Lesson two:

Building Belief through Perception
& synchronicity

When I first started to develop self-love, I was acting on a piece of intuitive guidance I received through a thought. As the challenge went on, I started to notice the universe also sends us intuitive guidance through signs and symbols in our physical environment. At first, it took me a while to believe it wasn’t all random ‘coincidences’… until I got to the point where I was noticing so many obvious signs, I knew life was speaking to me and that it wasn’t just my imagination playing tricks on me.

It’s hard to achieve our highest potential when we helplessly succumb to streams of negative thoughts, or condemn and judge ourselves for negative behaviours - even if we have a strong inner desire to change. Once you start directing your thoughts in a conscious manner by extending love and compassion into your mind in your most ‘unlovable’ moments, you’ll witness how life will begin to communicate to you more. Maybe, it’s because you’re more receptive to the signs that are all around you since you’re no longer being disillusioned by the voice of your shadow. Life will communicate to you through your newfound sense of trust. You must step into the belief with trust for it to become real for you. I know this because I have witnessed the magic of building belief in my own life. The more you open yourself up to synchronicity through enhanced perception, the more life will heed your call and heal your life from the inside out.

Instructions for Lesson Two:

(Note: you’ll require a journal or notebook for this lesson.)

Step 1) Start an intuitive journal / synchronicity journal to begin recording any signs / synchronicities you become aware of. If you feel called to be fancy, go ahead! Your inner voice deserves a beautiful stage from which to speak. Buy colourful pens, a beautiful journal… make it as fancy or as plain as you like. You are also encouraged to record inspiring quotes, book excerpts, or your own personal thoughts & insights in this journal.

Step 2) Pay attention to repetitive words, numbers, animals, TV shows/movies you’re watching, names, store signs, license plates, conversation’s, truck logo’s, or anything that passes through your awareness that seems to be repetitive (I define repetitive as occurring 2-6 + times in a one week time frame).

All you must do is pay attention. If you’ve been living with a negative mind for a long time, the conscious task of seeking out synchronicity will let life know that hope is now present within you, and that you’re ready and open to receiving proof of love’s presence. Eventually, you’ll receive so many signs a day that you’ll know at the absolute core of your being there’s no way it’s all a coincidence, just like I did.

This is how you build belief in your own mind and in life, which is truly here to support us. In my personal experience, there’s nothing more comforting than falling into the arms of love with grace, trusting that life will show up to catch you.

Step 3) Anytime you become aware of something repetitive appearing in your physical world, track it in the notebook / journal. You don’t have to know what the sign means. Simply becoming aware of its presence is enough! If any interpretations do come to mind, write them down.

For example, after a few days, your journal entries might look something like this:

Sunday, September 5

-Saw a hummingbird outside my window today
-Was mentioning to my friend about how I’ve been staying in my comfort zone, then an hour later I drove by a company van on the road that said ‘Comfort Zone Heating & Cooling’

Tuesday, September 7

-I kept hearing the name Raven today. I saw it in an ad and video I was watching. Then my friend saw a raven on their evening walk and took a picture and randomly sent it to me.

Wednesday, September 8

-I was on a call with my therapist and she mentioned that maybe I need to start “stepping out of my comfort zone”
-I keep noticing the word ‘BE’ on license plates. I noticed it multiple times today. Maybe a reminder from the universe to just BE?

Thursday, September 9

-Tonight while playing a trivia game on my cell phone, I was thinking a thought about how my dinner was too spicy and THE NEXT QUESTION in the game was about spicy food!!

The above examples are all REAL examples from my own life.

In my first novel, ‘The Lighthouse: A Journey of Conscious Ascension’ I write about how big of a role synchronicity played in my journey to self-love. In fact, the name ‘The Lighthouse’ came to me after I asked the universe to send me a sign about what my book would be called when it was all said and done. I ended up going to the beach that weekend for my friend’s bachelorette party and by the end of the weekend, I’d observed 6 lighthouse symbols. I also remembered that the week prior, I wrote a post where I used the imagery of a lighthouse shining through a storm. Essentially, my book already had a name before I had even asked the question. Life helped guide me to that awe-inspiring realization.

The journal acts as a tool (like the little notebook in the children’s show ‘Blue’s Clues’) that enables you to go back in time and see if any of the signs have started revealing their meaning to you. Life flows in mysterious ways through space and time. Have you received any further insights about what these signs could mean? If so, write it down.

Think of yourself as a Detective who is trying to decipher a riddle or put together all the pieces of a very large jigsaw puzzle. See what signs resonate with you and ignore the ones that don’t. The signs will make more sense as time unfolds. Record in the journal as often as possible to help build your belief.

When you begin to do this on a regular basis, eventually you won’t have to use a journal anymore. You’ll become very skilled at detecting the most common signs that life uses to communicate its presence to you. You can then play fun little games with life, like requesting it show you specific signs - such as heart symbols. It’ll only be a matter of time before you start pulling heart-shaped chips out of the bag of chips you’re eating, or seeing heart-shaped pools of water on your kitchen counter (yes, this happens to me. It’s like a hug from the universe!)

One time I had just burned myself in the kitchen, and instead of cursing or getting annoyed, I sent love into my mind right away.

“I send love and light into this experience.”

The next day when the burn had transformed into a blister on my finger, it was in the shape of a heart.

One last thing: What is a sign/symbol and how do you know if you’re receiving one? In my experience, a sign is any word, name, place or number that you perceive multiple times in a 2-7 day span. A modern day example (taken straight from my own experience): You might be reading a book and see the word ‘Angel’… and you simply take notice. An hour later, you turn on your TV and browse Netflix, and see the word ‘Angel’ again in a movie title. Afterward, you go for a walk outside and notice an angel figurine in your neighbour’s garden. THESE ARE SIGNS and they’re one of the ways life communicates to us. Go to your journal and record them (and any insights that come to you about them)… then, wait for your next sign!

An important note:

Some days or weeks, you may get discouraged. You’ll have entire weeks where you THINK you’re not receiving any signs, and you might start to lose hope or think life has forgotten about you.

LOVE YOURSELF through it and know there are plenty more surprises in store for you… they just need more time to manifest in your physical world.

With Gratitude,
Heather Anne Talpa
